BMW Motorrad BoxerCup Most: The races of the year!

Kern wins the tyre poker on Saturday - Höfer wins second round with a three-hundredths lead - Jürgens again third twice

Most - Just a fortnight after the exciting weekend in Schleiz, the BMW Motorrad BoxerCup promoted by WILBERS was held in Most in the Czech Republic.
Although Wunderlich rider Nate Kern had only completed four inspection laps on a scooter, the boxer-experienced American dominated all three Friday training sessions from the very beginning, and also finished the qualifying session with best time.

The second timed practice took place - as expected - on a wet track and brought no change to the starting grid: Kern on pole ahead of Höfer and Jürgens, followed by Kitsch, Lenz and Spenner in row two.

It rained until one hour before the start of the race. The track dried only slowly and the choice of tyres became a real poker game. The American pole setter, like Kitsch and most of the drivers, opted for treadless DUNLOP slicks. Marvin Jürgens and championship leader Höfer rely on pure DUNLOP rain tyres.The track was partly dried out.

Daniel Werth already crashed during the inspection lap. Kai-Uwe Lenz, who was on the great fifth starting position, drove back into the pits with slicks. Kern had the best start, but Motorsport Burgdorf driver Marvin Jürgens left everyone behind in the wet passages and crossed the finish line with a fabulous 4.5 seconds lead after the first lap. After two laps, the third in the standings was already leading by over six seconds. But then came the time of the slick drivers! Kern crawled closer to Jürgens with record laps and took the lead in lap five, which he was not to give up again until the finish. The man from Atlanta took his second victory of the season with a twelve second lead. One lap later Jürgens had to let kitsch pass, the track was simply too dry.

Nevertheless, Jürgens easily saved his sixth podium place from a strong YouTube "Meddes" at the finish. Fritz Spenner came fifth ahead of the totally disappointed triple season winner Christof "Fifty" Höfer, who was not able to cope with his rain tyres after some slips, but still took eleven important points. Also worth seeing is the triathlon between guest driver Hans-Werner Haas, Heinz Schönbrunner (Team ASID) and Marco Gluch (Team Gluch-Kfz), who finished in this order in places seven to nine. The Swiss René Iten completed the top ten.

The second race took place in beautiful sunshine. Pole-man Kern had the best start, Marvin Jürgens even managed to enter the first chicane in second place. But Christof Höfer, who had been deeply depressed by yesterday's sixth place, put all his energy into an immediate race to catch up. After one lap he had caught Jürgens and was on the rear wheel of the Americans. After that the fight of the year developed! All previous races were already an exciting exchange of blows - this race puts the previous fights in the shade once again. During the twelve laps of the race, the spectators in Most saw more than twenty changes in the lead. Both Wunderlich pilots gave their last, but always fair and with the athletically justifiable hardness. During the final acceleration to the last straight Höfer and Kern next to each other towards the finish line, the German won with a lead of three hundredths (!) of a second and had to make sure first if it was enough. Kern blamed a slight slip on the kerbs for the narrow defeat, but paid his victorious team colleague respect: "We both gave more than 100 per cent, but only one can win. This is motorsport as it should be". There is nothing to add to that!

In the shadow of this mega-duel Marvin Jürgens drove his seventh podium finish home and finished third for the sixth time. Harald Kitsch renewed his subscription to fourth place ahead of a once again great "Meddes" in fifth place. Behind him Fritz Spenner (ZF-Motorsport) and Kai-Uwe Lenz, who could not quite confirm his fifth place in training. René Iten and Heinz Schönbrunner rounded off the top ten.

After seven of ten special stages Chris Höfer is now leading with 156 points ahead of his team mate Nate Kern (130 p.) and Marvin Jürgens (116 p.). The next BoxerCup event will take place in Assen on the first weekend of September. All results in detail at www.results.bike-promotion.com
