Double podium at the opening weekend for Wilbers BMW Racing and Florian Alt!

The thrilling motorsport, International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) returned after the Corona break with thrilling races. 321 days after the last IDM race, the new season on the Dutch MotoGP track could finally start under scorching sunshine, albeit without spectators.

Jonas Folger did justice to his role as favourite. Besides the experienced MotoGP rider, Florian Alt also shone with his perfectly prepared BMW S1000RR K67 from the Wilbers technicians with Burkhard Stember. This brought Florian 2 x third place and 2 x podium, even though there were less tests due to corona. In the heat of Assen Florian kept a cool head due to his excellent physical and mental condition – and it paid off. In the first race Florian started from the first row and he kept this place until the finish.

Florian only learned about the starting grid for the second race, three quarters of an hour before the race and had a completely new experience with the reverse starting grid. The fact that he was third in the end was due to his fighting spirit in the heat of battle.

Florian scored 32 points at Assen. It remains exciting to see what the next races at the Sachsenring, Lausitzring and the final at Hockenheim will bring. A livestream will be set up so that the spectators can still be there!
